Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and we’ve got an even better last-minute present than chocolates and flowers!

Clooper is all about the good life. Adventuring, doing new things, having fun. We also know Valentine’s Day is coming up soon, and with this in mind: we’ve got the perfect gift idea for your loved one. A weekend away in one of the most romantic places on earth. But what exactly is there to do in Paris once you’re there?

PICNIC UNDERNEATH THE EIFFEL TOWER

We know. Cliche, right? But cliches are so popular for a reason! At least, most of the time.

Picture this: it’s a lovely sunny (perhaps slightly overcast… we take what we can! ) day, you’re out with your lover, the birds are chirping, the mimes are mime-ing, and love is in the air. Okay, maybe there aren’t any mimes. But that could be another date idea! Lovers’ mime lessons, anyone?

Dining outdoors has numerous benefits. Spending time outside has been shown to reduce anxiety levels and lower levels of activity in the brain that correspond with mental illness. Time in the sunshine specifically improves stress levels. While on a date, you should always put your best self forward. Picnicking will definitely bring out the happier side of you, even if you’re already in a fantastic mood!

If you’d rather dine indoors, you won’t have to go far. You can dine in the tower itself. The 58 Tour Eiffel is a restaurant situated in the Eiffel tower, offering you dinner and a view. You can even look inward, through glass windows, to see the structure of the tower itself. Always reassuring, we suppose! Plus, for the architects among you, this is a niche addition that’s right up your alley.

TOUR THE SIGHTS

Whether you plan your own route or opt for a sightseeing tour, Paris is full of gorgeous sights to inspire romance. You can see the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, The Centre Pompidou and much, much more. The method of travel that you opt for? Entirely up to you, and you’re not short of choices…

Will it be a bus? Or a limo, perhaps? We’d recommend the horse-drawn carriage for that fairytale feel. Les Calèches de Versailles offers sightseeing tours via horse-drawn carriages all year round. Why not find yourself there this Valentine’s Day? Maybe you’ll even find a glass slipper or two.

It’s also romantic to just trail Paris on foot. Walk hand in hand through the Gardens of Versailles, admiring statues and flower bushes alike. That’s just one sight to see, here are some of our favourites:

  • Montmarte.
  • Place Dauphine.
  • Pont des Arts.
  • The Wall Of Love.
  • Parc des Buttes Chaumont.
  • Luxembourg Palace & Gardens.

Or perhaps you’d rather spend the day in one of Paris’ most prestigious brasseries?

LE TRAIN BLEU

In Gare Du Lyon resides Le Train Bleu. This iconic brasserie has hosted names like Coco Chanel if you can believe it! This legendary restaurant was created in 1900, erected by famous architect Marius Toudoire. Marius was also responsible for the incredible Gare Du Lyon clock tower.

Le Train Bleu has even had its halls listed in history. The restaurant, the gold lounge and the Tunisian and LAgernian lounges as well as the passageways, and their decor, are classed as historical monuments. Not only this, you may recognise this building from many films! Films like Nikita have used Le Train Bleu as a backdrop, for good reasons! It’s so romantic in there, in fact, that it may inspire you to do something equally as romantic …

REKNEW YOUR WEDDING VOWS

What better way to celebrate Valentines Day than by re-living one of the happiest, most love-filled days of your life? If you’re married in the first place, of course! Or else, perhaps Paris will finally encourage you to pop that question: whether that’s for marriage, partnership, or perhaps even to move in together. It’s always exciting to take the next step with someone on holiday. It cements that memory for life. You’ll associate good memories with that locale — and Paris is a fantastic place to make memories in.

There are so many beautiful venues to choose from. The Opera Garnier, the Ritz Paris, almost any number of hotels in the area. You can even host your ceremony outside. With backdrops like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Arc Du Triomph to choose from, you’re sure to make it unforgettable!

Be sure to try and schedule ceremonies early, if you’re not a fan of crowds. You’ll attract one getting re-married ( or married for the first time ) at one of these famous landmarks for sure. Unless you’re happy with that, of course. A marriage with an audience? Why not? In the City of Love, anything is possible.
