Brixton is far more industrialised than it is rural. Despite this, it has its local green areas and breaks from the brick and mortar. Rush Common, for example, is a leafy stretch through Brixton that also splits into St Matthews Church Gardens and Tate Gardens. The council that oversees the common are always looking to improve and maintain it, as they express that they are aware of its importance to people’s fitness and leisure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milkwood Community Park is another closeby green haven. It also has an amphitheatre for community festivals and events in the summertime, making it popular with young folk particularly. It also has a popular children’s play park and even its own sweet Hollywood-style sign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brixton of course has its regular amenities. Big brand supermarkets, corner stores and grocery stores, gyms, leisure centres and GPs: it covers all of the bases. Not only this, but it has a collection of well-known Brixton-unique venues. One popular name is The Ritzy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ritzy sits overlooking Windrush Square and is an independent cinema that\u2019s been going strong since 1911. It serves cocktails and food for you to enjoy alongside your movie. It has a downstairs restaurant\/bar with a warm inviting atmosphere, 5 movie screens available and even an upstairs events venue: Upstairs at the Ritzy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brixton is also popular for its live music, seen throughout many bars and pubs. The Agile Rabbit in particular offers live music every weekend. Grab a cheeky cocktail and sit down to groove to some smooth Jazz, or if jazz isn\u2019t your thing: rock on down to the Hootananny. The Hootananny is a live music venue that hosts artists of many genres. Reggae, Drum & Bass, Disco, and even musical performances of Sea Shanties that the audience can join in on!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
